When the days are grey and short, and the Christmas lights are fading, the Hag is slowly stirring the shimmering soul waters in her cauldron.
If you slip into silence and turn towards North you might catch a scent of the awen, inspiration, that is sliding on the subtle wind crawling out between the pine trees of her forest.
What is the scent that reaches your nostrils?
Frosty soil and moist moss mingled with the subtle scent of violets promise of spring.
As the dark night is illuminated by silvery moon light the embers underneath her cauldron are crackling and sending bright orange sparks up towards the sky. The unaware eye might mistake them for stars, but you know that it’s her offering you guidance.
Winter Cauldron is a time to sit together in the embrace of darkness, quietly waiting for something creative to emerge and burst forth.
The crossing of the threshold of Midwinter invites us into a communal sinking into quiet, a shared breath in the dark, a space where what is hidden in the soil of soul can be sensed, heard, and felt.
What is Winter Cauldron?
“There is a stillness in winter that clarifies the wild soul in me, a stillness that means I hear and feel more clearly what lies in the soil of me. I guess this is how the seeds in the soft darkness are found and tended to.”
- Brigit Anna McNeill
This retreat is a gesture towards that soft darkness.
Winter Cauldron is a three-day online retreat that welcomes you into the deep and fertile quiet of the season.
This is an invitation to:
✨ slow down
✨ soften your edges
✨ let your eyes adjust to seeing in the dark
✨ slip into winter listening
We gather in the sacred depths of Full Moon in Cancer to sip the scent of awen, the whisper of inspiration rising from the dark belly of the cauldron.
Together we remember that when the light returns to the womb of darkness new vision becomes possible.
We sit in the dark and wait for what wants to emerge.

FAQ…
-
I can't join the live session, will there be recordings?
Yes, recordings will be available on our online portal for a week.
All the material is downloadable which means you can save it if you wish to return to it another time.
-
I am a mother, how can I make the most out of this weekend whilst also tending to my children?
As a mother it might be challenging to be in complete silence for the whole weekend. My suggestion is that you take this time to simply be in presence with your child/children.
Prepare your child/children beforehand that you will be joining a retreat and what that will mean for your shared daily rhythm.
Prepare meals or keep meals for your children very simple during the weekend. My go to is to serve porridge or something that is ready made.
-
I've never done an Ayurvedic cleanse, is there anything I need to know before I do it?
When you join you will receive clear instructions for how to do the Ayurvedic cleanse, and I will be available for questions.
This cleanse is not suitable if you are on medication, pregnant, or menstruating.
If you have a medical condition I recommend you check with your doctor before you do the cleanse.

I find being in silence a whole weekend a bit intimidating, how can I prepare for that?
I hear you. In the silence all of that which is usually quieted down by everyday noise comes to the surface.
If silence feels intimidating or even scary you can choose to be in silence for just one of the days, or for half of the two days. Consider what would feel right and doable for you and make a commitment to that.
